Dean's Corner
With the holiday season upon us, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for so many things—for the hard work our staff has done to support our scholars and faculty this semester; for the opportunities for thoughtful engagement that have been available to our scholars from our faculty, our alum, and friends of the Graduate School; and for the generosity of every person who has made and will make a gift to the Graduate School this year. In these difficult times in our world, all the ways the Graduate School has helped us create better futures for the communities we are in partnership deserve applause and appreciation. We have much to be grateful for, indeed.
At the heart of our mission is a determination to provide solutions to problems of the human condition, no matter the discipline. Doing that takes effort, skill, intellect, and resources. That's why we are extending our #GivingTuesday campaign and launching our #HowardGradGivingStories campaign to ensure that every person has an opportunity to give at whatever level is available to you. Do you have a wonderful story to tell about how being an alum of one of our graduate programs has impacted you and the world around you positively? Take a moment to tell that story. Have you given your time or talent to the Graduate School and witnessed first-hand what that contribution has meant to one of our scholars or to a faculty member? If so, allow us to tell the world about it. Use our social media handles to help spread the word and to encourage others who hear your stories to become supporters.
What motivates us day-to-day is the assurance that what we do matters. Please consider a gift to the Graduate School during this holiday season. Every gift matters—from financial gifts to representational ones. I can assure you that you won't regret it.
With gratitude and well wishes for a wonderful holiday season,
Dana A. Williams, PhD | Graduate Dean
