Interested in joining a sports team or enjoying some friendly competition while you make some new friends? Howard’s Department of Athletics offers a wide range of athletic communities and competitive sports activities you can participate in. 


Whether you're looking to enjoy a game of flag football, basketball, volleyball, soccer (popularly known as football), tennis, water polo, ultimate frisbee, softball, or golf, the Competitive Intramural and Club Sports program sponsored by Howard’s Department of Athletics offers a ton of opportunities to have fun and get fit. Intramural Sports are a great way to get involved in recreational sports at Howard, build relationships, improve well-being, and cultivate lifelong team leadership skills.

Intramural Sports

Intramural sports at Howard are a great way to meet other Howard graduate students, faculty, and staff for some friendly recreation and athletic competition and team activities, regardless of your skill level. Intramural Sports offerings at Howard range from flag football, basketball, volleyball, indoor and outdoor soccer, ultimate frisbee, tennis, badminton, water polo, softball, and golf. Club Sports 

Howard club sports are student-run clubs organized by students who want to participate in a specific sport and compete at the extramural, regional, and national levels. To view current club practice schedules, join a club, download forms, and create an account through IMLeagues. Each club is formed, developed, governed, and administered by the student membership of that club. Club sports allow students to participate in recreational sports leagues, tournaments, and special events throughout the academic year.
